Employment History
(NOTE: Dates are approximate.)
2000-Present
Industrial Properties Manager
I am responsible for the management of eleven industrial propeties located all across Metro Detroit, from Sterling Heights to Romulus and everywhere in between.
Preventative Maintenance, damage control and tenant relations are my main responsibilities.
1999 - 2000
Dick O' Dow's Irish Pub, Birmingham, Michigan
Nicknamed the “Hostess with the Mostest” by general manager, Michelle Patterson, I take pride in going above and beyond the call of duty. As the first face customers see when they enter our establishment, it is important for me to make them feel welcome and special. At the same time, I must attempt to seat our guests in a way that is beneficial not only to them, but to the wait staff and the establishment as well. Needless to say, this requires a bit of diplomatic skill from time to time. When necessary, I can assume the responsibilities of other positions as well.
1998-1999
Manager of Article II , Birmingham, Michigan
As manager of this boutique style men's clothing store, my responsibilities included customer service, employee relations & store merchandising. I worked closely with the owner of Article II and was able to learn quite a bit from his experience and knowledge. I was very sorry to see the store close in 1999.
1997
Marmel , Farmington, Michigan
Marmel is a unique gift store that specializes in items that can be personalized. They have in-house artists who draw or paint different pictures and names of the customer's choice onto their gift. I worked for Marmel as an artist during their seasonal holiday rush in 1997. The head artist is one of the most talented women I have ever had the good fortune to learn from, thus the time spent under her direction, although brief, proved to be quite fruitful.
1996 - 1998
"Our Little Car Wash", Bloomfield Hills, Michigan
A high end car detailing service, my partner and I acquired Our Little Car Wash from its previous owner when he relocated. Services included picking up the vehicles, treating them to a complete interior and exterior cleaning by hand, applying a layer of protective wax to the painted surfaces, treating the windows to prevent fogginess and aid in sheeting and then returning the vehicle to the client. We not only owned and ran the company, we did most of the work as well.
1995
Editor of Saint Mary's College Newspaper
An exciting, frustrating, rewarding experience. I both learned and accomplished so much during this time, the rewards were well worth the frustrations. A challenge unlike any other!
1994 - 1996
"Little Tree Landscaping", Bloomfield Hills, Michigan
As my first entrepreneurial effort, Little Tree Landscaping was truly a learning experience. My partner and I started the company after I returned from Boston, and ran it for two or three summers. In addition to what I learned about running a business, I learned a great deal more about landscaping than I had known before. My partner was very knowledgeable, and willing to share what he knew with me, which proved invaluable. It was both a fun and, in many ways, a profitable experience.
1995
Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit
I worked in an after school program at Hillel that was designed for children who could not go directly home after school. Rather than simply send them to the gym with a babysitter, elective style classes were developed. I taught an art class in which we completed several different projects, including making calendars, art smocks and fun things out of "Sculpey". It was a wonderfully rewarding experience and we all had a great time!
1994
Annabel and Co. Catering, Southfield, Michigan
248.354.6155
As one of their first 'employees', I got a taste of everything (highly recommended!) from prep work to dish work, from tray set up to party set up. Not only was this a fabulous learning experience, both in food service and small business growth, we had a wonderful time in the process. I had a boss who was very knowledgeable, an excellent chef and a great "people person", all to my benefit - she was also a wonderful teacher!
